Is It Possible To Have An Actual rotation For A Frost Mage?

Frost mage rotations are some of the hardest rotations to pin down because casting time and interrupts have to be taken into account. For example if you are in the middle of casting a particular spell and are interrupted by your enemy you cannot just move to the next instant cast spell like you can with hunters and almost all melee classes.

The mage seems to be more of a split second decision kind of class. You must know your class very well and you must be familiar with most counter attacks in case of interrupt or silences. Most of the time you will only have to worry about things like that until you get into the higher level instances and pvp.

If you are looking for the closest thing to a frost mage rotation as you can possibly get for low level instances and questing I have come up with the solution for you.

  • Simply spam frostbolt until shatter, fingers of frost, or you instant cast frostfire bolt proc
  • If shatter procs use ice lance
  • If fingers of frost procs spam ice lance until it is gone
  • If instant cast frostfire bolt procs use it and hope it triggers another, shatter, or fingers of frost
  • Simple repeat the process
Throw deep freeze in whenever it is available and spam ice lance until deep freeze breaks. If you continue the process over and over you will be performing the closest thing there is to a frost mage rotation while maximizing your dps in the frost build.
